Horizon Middle School students will be hosting a Veterans Day “Freedom Celebration” on Monday, November 11th, 2013. Veterans and community members are invited to enjoy breakfast and coffee from 7:45-8:45A.M. At 8:45A.M. students will present a Veterans Day program. This program will feature performances by the Horizon band and chorus as well as a Veterans Day address by our guest speaker, Retired General Roma Amundson of the Army National Guard. The students and staff at H.M.S. want to make veterans a special part of this program. Veterans, military personnel, and family members of soldiers currently on active duty will be recognized and honored at the program. Please contact Horizon Middle School if you are able to attend(698-8120).

Math: Students took two multiplication fact quizzes, utilizing a new trick on the second one. We then graded 12-1 and went over questions. No new homework, if you didn't finish the 12-1 problems, do them for the next class period. Keep working on the Vocab Activities for Week 2. The activities are due Friday. We will also take the spelling quiz from those words.
Pre-Algebra Students worked at stations on problems that will be seen on the assessment in preparation for the Chapter 2 Formative Assessment which is THURSDAY.

Complete problems 14-15, 18-20 and 22-24 on page 102 as well as 13-16, 21-26, 29-35 on page 278. We will be taking a quiz tomorrow over lessons 2-1 - 2-5 and 5-1. Math: Students reviewed how to access Moodle (learn.kps) and the online textbook. We looked at some Hunger Games statistics and reviewed problems on a notecard. Complete problems 14-15, 18-20 and 22-24 on page 102 as well as 13-16, 21-26, 29-35 on page 278. We will be taking a quiz tomorrow over lessons 2-1 - 2-5 and 5-1. Friday: Vocab activities are due and we will take a spelling quiz over week 1 words.

We will also take a spelling quiz over those words on Friday. For tomorrow, kids are to complete the B side of the worksheet from last week as well as problems 4 - 6, 14-19, 21, 24, 25, 28 from Lesson 2-5 for tomorrow.

Geography: Continued Tilt of the Earth and Seasons notes and discussion. We also took a pre-test that was not graded, but used as a study practice. Test over Latitude and Longitude is set for Thursday, October 3rd
