Math:  Students turned in the HSS packet.  We then took the Formative Assessments over decimals.

Science: Students began presenting their disease research project.

English:  Students watched The Giver movie today. We will be comparing and contrasting the book and movie. AR is due today!

Geography:  Today we compared and contrasted segregation in the U.S. with Apartheid in South Africa and finished watching Remember the Titans.  If students are missing days I have posted all classroom material on Google Classroom- notes, atlas (maps).

Math:  Students went over the Percent paper.  Kids are to work on finishing it for tomorrow.   Students have a Teaching Percent paper in which they need to teach someone else how to do the percents.  We also began looking at the HSS packet.  Bring ads to your next math class.

Math:  Students graded 3-3, looked at their previous math MAP scores and then began looking at how to find percentages in their head, without a calculator.  Finish the backside of the green paper for tomorrow.  Both the Million Dollar activity and the HSS Write-up are DUE BY 4 PM TODAY!  LATE ASSIGNMENTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

Math:  We graded the 3-2 homework, talked about activities we will be working on and then went over how to multiply decimals from lesson 3-3.  Get started, it will be due MONDAY.

Pre-Algebra:   Students continued discussion of 3-4.  Complete the homework for tomorrow.

Science: Students checked the results in their Petri dish from yesterday's lab and incubated it for another day. We also finished taking notes over the immune system and discussed the iMovie project we will start tomorrow. Reminder: family tree project due date = Friday, December 5th.

English:  Today we read Chapters 16-17 in The Giver. Students will have a packet check tomorrow. They need to have all character descriptions done, Ch. 1-15 study guide ?'s done, and page 8-11 in their packet done.

Math:  We went over estimating division and then covered 3-2.  Complete the homework for tomorrow.

Pre-Algebra:   Students went over 3-3.  We then discussed 3-4.  Complete the homework for tomorrow.

Science: Students performed a "contamination lab" where they swabbed various locations in the school and then an agar dish.  The agar dishes will incubate for 24 hours and then we will check our results tomorrow.  Reminder: family tree project due date = Friday, December 5th.

English:  Today we read Chapters 15 in The Giver and the students took a short quiz. Students have Pg 11 in their packets as homework. Students can also do a Giver word search as extra credit.

Honor English:  Today we took a quiz over Ch. 6-10. Students continued to read and have Pg 10 in their packet as homework and they need to continue working on study guide questions.

Geography:  We started on AFRICA.  The students started on a Physical map.  The Political and Physical Maps will be due on Friday.

Math:  Students graded 2-11 and then had time to work on the RTGO? on page 130.  Students handed it in at the end of class.  No homework.

Pre-Algebra:   Students went over lesson 3-2 and had time to work on the assignment in class.  No homework (if they got it done in class).

Science: Students worked on the final draft of their family tree. Two trees should be created - one for mom's family and one for dad's family.  Each family tree is to include grandma and grandpa, all aunts and uncles, all first cousins, parents, siblings, and all children from first cousins and siblings.  No more class time will be given for this assignment.  Due date = Friday, December 5th.

English:  Today we read Chapters 11-12 in The Giver. Students have study guide questions for Ch. 9-11.

Honor English:  Today we had our "official" Wordmasters test. Students have a worksheet to build their own Utopia. Due on Monday.

Geography:  We wrapped up Material World by completing a demographics sheet.  Students had all period to work on it.  Most if not all students finished this in class.  They handed their note packets in for a grade also.  Please check powerschool for missing assignments.  Have a great break!

Science: Students learned the symbols for pedigrees (family trees). Students then began a rough draft of their own family tree. Students should talk to their parents and be ready to create a final draft of their family tree tomorrow in class.  Two trees will be created - one for mom's family and one for dad's family.  Each family tree is to include grandma and grandpa, all aunts and uncles, all first cousins, parents, siblings, and all children from first cousins and siblings.

English:  Today we read Chapter 10 in The Giver. We had a quiz over Ch. 6-10. Students have Pg 10 in their packet to do as homework.

Honor English:  Today we had a Wordmasters study day! We have my Wordmasters test on Monday and the actual Wordmasters test on Tuesday. STUDY, STUDY, STUDY!

Math:  Students went over the homework and then discussed the MCFD.  We then talked briefly about lesson 2-10.  No homework.

Pre-Algebra:  Students took the AMC exam.  No homework.

Science: Students watched a video about genetics.  Test over genetics tomorrow! A study guide has been handed out.

English:  Today we continued reading The Giver. Students have a study guide that they can continue filling out. There will be a quiz over Chapters 1-5 on Wednesday.

Science: Students are to complete two SpongeBob Genetics worksheets by Tuesday, November 18th.  Many students completed both sheets in class today.  No more class time will be given to complete these worksheets.  Test over genetics = Wednesday, November 19th.  A study guide has been handed out.

English:  We journaled about our own mythical monster and explored text structures found in the Loch Ness Monster article. No homework.

Honor English:  We reviewed our fill in the blank sentences and played Kahoot to review our Wordmasters words. Continue to study, study, study! Our test will be on Monday, November 24th.

Geography:  Students finished up on the Economic Comparison Activity. If they did not get it done in class it is homework- due Monday.  Quiz over Religion, Government, and Economy will be Monday the 17th.  They need to study over the weekend to be ready for the quiz on Monday 11/17.

Math:  Students took a mult fact quiz, graded the homework and then played a Kahoot game over the vocab terms.  The spelling quiz over the vocab terms is tomorrow and the activities are due Monday.

Pre-Algebra:  Students finished going over the chapter 11 formative assessment and and then played a Kahoot game over the vocab terms.  The spelling quiz over the vocab terms is tomorrow and the activities are due Monday.

Science: Students finished putting together their baby dragon based on the Punnett square outcomes and flips of a coin.  Test over genetics = Wednesday, November 19th.  A study guide has been handed out.

English:  We continued to analyze the Prince and Pauper and read about the Loch Ness Monster today. No homework!

Honor English:  We reviewed analogies and started studying for our class Wordmasters test that is on Monday, November 24th. Continue to study!

Geography:  Students compared economies for three countries.  Due on Monday.  Quiz over Religion, Government, and Economy will be Monday the 17th.  Start studying your notes!

Math:  Students went over the lesson 2-6 homework.  We then discussed lessons 2-7 and 2-8.  For homework tomorrow, lesson 2-7: 1-7 and 44.  lesson 2-8: 1-7, 41 and 42.

Pre-Algebra:  Students went over the chapter 11 formative assessment and discussed important events coming up.  No homework.

Science: Students put together their dragon based on the phenotypes that were inherited yesterday.  Students began creating their baby dragon using the rules of genetics.  Test over genetics = Wednesday, November 19th.  A study guide has been handed out.

English:  We read the Prince and the Pauper and analyzed literary elements in the story. No homework.

Honor English:  We reviewed analogies and started studying for our class Wordmasters test that is on Monday. Study, study, study!

Science: Students learned some Punnett square vocabulary.  We then practiced using that vocabulary as we filled in some Punnett squares.  No homework.

English:  Students read a Scholastic Scope article called "Would We Be Killed?" Students worked in groups reading the article, answering questions, and working with vocabulary. No homework.

Science: Students finished comparing and contrasting mitosis and meiosis. We then began filling out a "genetics vocab chart."  No homework.

English:  Today we expanded some sentences and found better adjectives for our descriptive essay. Students need to have an adult read their essay and sign it. All of the packet should be done tomorrow. The packet and final draft is due on Thursday.

Honors English: Today we brainstormed ideas for our Descriptive Essay and started a Wordmasters sort activity. Students need to complete their Wordmasters worksheet for Monday.

Geography:  Students took a short test over Population and Traits of Culture.  No homework.

Geography:  Students reviewed for the test tomorrow by playing kahoot.  Students are to go home and STUDY their notes and note cards.  Completed notecards (all 15-we went over these today) are offered as extra credit the day of the test.  Students need to have these at the beginning of class tomorrow to be accepted for extra credit!!!!!

English:  Today we learned about the difference between prepositions and adverbs, and we learned about interjections. Students have pages 2 and 4 in their packet to do as homework.

Geography:  Students continued to work on a jigsaw group activity over population issues in other countries using their textbook.  Some students are still missing their Population Density worksheet activity from Friday.  It was homework if they didn't get it finished.  Ask your student about the homework.

Math: Students went over the problems 1 - 6 from yesterday.  We then reviewed some of the tougher problems and kids had time to work on the 12-1 problems from the yellow paper.  They are due tomorrow.

Pre-Algebra:  Students graded lesson 2-8 and then reviewed for the Formative Assessment which will be Friday.  Students might have some problems to work on at home.

Science: Students participated in an activity using pipe cleaners to model mitosis and the cell cycle.  No homework.

English:  Today we learned about definite and indefinite articles, nouns used as adjectives, and comparative/superlative adjectives. Students have pages 4-6 in their adjective/adverbs packet as homework.

Geography:  Students continued to analyze the world population data using www.prb.org website.  After they were finished we made note cards for the units vocabulary.  This assignment is due Friday. No homework!
