Science –Quiz over DNA in lab 113. Also we received our next unit's note sheet. Class all week is in lab 113.
Math - Students took a mult fact quiz and answered questions on 2-8. Students given time to complete Checkpoint 1 & 2. It will be due tomorrow.
Pre-Algebra - Students went over the worksheet from Friday and worked on problems from 2-7.
English -- Today we reviewed pronouns. Tonight, finish your worksheet and use four during-reading strategies while reading your AR book. Book points are due Friday, October 17th.
GEOGRAPHY – Today in Geography we moved on to Graphs. We read some terms about graphs and then completed a worksheet over graph information. No homework.

Science –Made a model of a DNA fingerprint. Wednesday's class is in the Computer Lab 119.
Math - Students took a mult fact quiz, organized KPS Assessments and then were assigned the problem solving practice problems on page 71.
Pre-Algebra - Students went over the worksheets. We then discussed lesson 2-5. Complete the homework from that lesson for tomorrow.
English -- Today we reviewed nouns on the computer. Tonight, use four during-reading strategies while reading your AR book. Noun test is Wednesday.
GEOGRAPHY – Today in Geography we started on a Chart/Graph Unit. Students were given a worksheet pertaining to Charts. They were asked to pick 14 different countries for an activity tomorrow. Students will have the Chart worksheet for homework today.

Math - Students went over how to divide decimals and took the KPS Assessment over it. Students are to finish the other worksheet that they were given on Friday (they had two - one needed to be finished for today)
Pre-Algebra - Students went over questions dealing with combining like terms. We then discussed lesson 2-4. Complete the homework from that lesson.
English -- Today we reviewed nouns on the computer. Tonight, use four during-reading strategies while reading your AR book. Noun test is Wednesday.
GEOGRAPHY – Today in Geography we went over our tests in class. The students had an option to correct the questions that they got wrong to receive half of the points back, if the corrected answer is correct.

Science –Today we went over the quiz on how materials get into cells and started reading about DNA. Monday we are in 208.
Math - Students went over the lesson 2-5 homework. We then took part of a KPS Assessment dealing with multiplying decimals. Students were given 2 practice worksheets. They need to have one of them done for Monday (front and back). Please check powerschool to see if your student needs to retake a previous KPS Assessment. A score of "0" would indicate that a retake is needed. Birth Announcement Redos will be graded and inputed this weekend.

Science –Went over the gelatin activity-very important scientific concepts. Tuesday's class is in 113. SCIENCE CURRENT EVENT SUMMARY IS DUE WEDNESDAY.
Math - Students went over how to add and subtract decimals as well as identified some properties of addition. They need to complete lesson 2-3 for homework.
Pre-Algebra - Students went over the skills you need for chapter 2 and went over aspects from lesson 2-1 and 2-2. Complete the Homework from lesson 2-2.

Math - Students took a mult fact quiz, organized KPS Assessments and then started a video over adding and subtracting decimals. No homework.
Pre-Algebra - Students took a mult fact quiz, organized the KPS assessments and then were assigned the final "code" to work on as a group and are to finish the "Chapter 2 skills you need" for tomorrow.

English -- Today we began a hands on grammar activity. We will finish it tomorrow. Tonight, use two during reading strategies while reading your AR book. There will be a test over capitalization rules on Thursday and a test over Spelling list #2 on Friday.

Science –Continued our inquiry mystery activity. Monday's class is in 119.
Math - Students discussed how failure leads to success if you don't give up and be persistent (Mr. Sanny trying to solve the Rubik's Cube). Students were given more time to work on / finish lesson 1-1. Lesson 1-1 homework will be graded Monday.
Pre-Algebra - Students discussed the importance of solving a problem in a specific order by looking at how to solve the Rubik's Cube and went over homework from lesson 1-2 and were given more practice time.
English -- Today we reviewed capitalization rules for proper adjectives. Tonight, finish your worksheet, use one during reading strategy while reading your AR book. Be sure to have a parent sign your AR paper and return it to Mrs. Westerbeck by Monday.
GEOGRAPHY – We read through the Omaha World Herald for Current Events. We also discussed other current events that are happening with the Olympics. We related this articles to issues that we all have experienced.

Science –Started our inquiry mystery activity. Friday's class is in 119.
Math - Students went over lesson 1-1 and were given a sheet that lists all the problems that will be assigned from Chapter 1. Complete lesson 1-1 homework for tomorrow.
Pre-Algebra - Students went over homework from lesson 1-1. Complete the lesson 1-2 homework for tomorrow.
English -- Today we reviewed different capitalization rules. Tonight, finish your capitalization worksheet, use one during reading strategy while reading your AR book. Be sure to have a parent sign your AR paper and return it to Mrs. Westerbeck by Monday.
GEOGRAPHY – Students were assigned a World Map Activity to complete today in class. Most were able to finish within the class period, but some may have one or two questions left to finish- so a few students may have a little homework. Again we will be testing over the 7 continents and the 4 major oceans Tuesday the 26th of August. I hope everyone is taking advantage of watching some Olympic games. They only happen every 4 years!

Science –Went over our testable question experiments and worked changing questions to testable questions. Thursday's class is in the media center.
Math - Students went over yesterday's homework and made little notebooks that we will take chapter one notes in.
Pre-Algebra - Students went over the Skills you Need for Chapter 1 and started lesson 1-1. Complete the lesson 1-1 homework for tomorrow.
English -- Today we learned how to take an AR test. Tonight, use one during reading strategy while reading your AR book. Be sure to have a parent sign your AR paper and return it to Mrs. Westerbeck by Monday.
GEOGRAPHY – Today we finished up with some Geography notes if needed. Then we started to review a map that contained all the major continents and oceanic divisions. We also took the time to fill out the map. Students will need to keep this map and the definitions because there will be a quiz over the major continents and oceanic divisions Tuesday the 26th.

English -- Today we checked out and covered our literature books. Be reading in your AR book. 15-20 minutes every night is necessary to accomplish your goal before the end of the quarter.
GEOGRAPHY – Today in Geography we finished our self flags and discussed them. We did a Biography for Geography activity that we completed in class.

Science - Thursday we found out the results to our lung volume study. Friday we will meet in lab 113. The quiz will be on Monday.
Math - Students graded 6-3. Students are to complete problems 2 - 5, 8, 9-12 and 14 - 19 for homework from lesson 6-4. We will take a "QUEST" tomorrow over lessons 6-1 - 6-4.
English -- In class students worked on the details of chapter 4 and had time to work on their panel discussion questions. Finish preparing for panel discussion tomorrow and be reading for your AR points. There is also a vocab quiz over chapters 1-4 vocab tomorrow, so review those worksheets.

Math - Students met in the computer lab and typed up their Math is Like and The Task paper.
English -- In class students wrote a rough draft to practice for their writing assessment. The writing assessment is next Tuesday and Wednesday. Begin you AR reading for next quarter.
GEOGRAPHY - Reviewed Map of Canada. Finished Section 1 Reading and Questions. Started Geography of Canada Packet. Remember to Review Your Map of Canada. Quiz Friday.

Science -Monday's class is in lab 113. Today we read about four different studies (experiments) on the circulatory system.
Math - Students discussed a couple story problems and were given time to work on the Math is like . . . writing activity as well as "The Task" which will both be due at the end of class tomorrow. We will be in the computer lab typing them up.
English -- In class students wrote a rough draft to practice for their writing assessment. The writing assessment is next Tuesday and Wednesday. Begin you AR reading for next quarter.
GEOGRAPHY - Reviewed Map of Canada. Read Section 1 and did Section Questions.

Science -Tuesday's class is in lab 113. Today we did a simulation on blood typing. Science current events are due next Wednesday. Test over the circulatory system, mainly multiple choice, will be Thursday. Mr. Sughroue will offer lunch reviews on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Math - Students took a mult fact quiz and went over the NCLB KPS Assessment. Students were given the Math is like . . . writing information. We will continue it tomorrow.
English -- In class students graded their journals and read chapter 11 with a partner. Finish chapter 11 tonight. I will read chapter 12 out loud in class tomorrow, and we will take a quiz over chapters 11 and 12. Book points are due Thursday.
