Science - Last class day to work on the adaptation evaluations. Thursday's class is in lab 113. Science current event is due Thursday.

Math - Students took a mult fact quiz, went over dividing fractions and mixed numbers. For homework, do problems from lesson 5-6: 1 - 6, 8, 9, 12 - 15 and 24 - 28. We will take the KPS Assessment over this material tomorrow and we will have the week 3 spelling quiz on Friday.

English -- Read first chapter of "Prarie Songs." Half of this quarter's points are due February 8th -- Friday!!

Math - Students went over the week 3 spelling words, watched a powerpoint on multiplying fractions and mixed numbers and took a KPS Assessment. We will take another KPS assessment Wednesday over dividing fractions and mixed numbers. NO homework.

English -- Students began building background knowledge for our novel "Prairie Songs". Final copies of descriptive paragraphs were due today. Half of this quarter's points are due February 8th -- Friday!!

Math - Students continued looking at the patterns in Pascal's Triangle. We then reviewed at the divisibility rules of the numbers 2 - 10 and went over lesson 4-5. Complete problems 1 - 6, 8 - 13, 30 - 34 and 38 - 41 for tomorrow. Starting this term, homework assignments are due the next day and will not be accepted late. THE END OF THE 2ND TERM IS THIS FRIDAY, DECEMBER 21 !!!!

Science -Disease test will be Wednesday. Tuesday we finished the Jeopardy game.

Math - Students went over the graded H.S.S. Packet and looked at their current grades. If students are not satisfied with their grade on the packet they can redo it by Friday and earn up to a 40 out of 45 points. Students work through some more real world math problems then we discussed info from lesson 4-2 and assigned problems 1 - 12 for homework.

English -- In class, students compared and contrasted two poems and practiced writing their own poem. AR points are due December 20th.

THE END OF THE 2ND TERM IS THIS FRIDAY, DECEMBER 21 !!!!

Science -Disease test will be Wednesday. Monday and Tuesday we are doing a Jeopardy review game. I will provide non-mandatory review sessions for the test on Tuesday lunch and Tuesday after school.

Math - Students turned in the H.S.S. Packet with all the shopping items. We looked at some real world math problems. We then attempted to complete the homework for lesson 4-1 in class. If we did not finish this in class, they need to do it at home. Ask your student.

English -- In class, students journaled and took a quiz over simple sentence formulas. AR points are due December 20th.

GEOGRAPHY - StudyGuide for Chapter 2 Test (on Wed.) Climate project due Wed.

Science -Finished the antibody activity, that explained the reasons we get some diseases only once and some diseases over and over. Also we went over the bacteria experiment.

Math - Students took a mult fact quiz and continued working on the Holiday Shopping Spree Project. Students are to be completing the yellow "teaching percentages" sheet at home. It will be due TOMORROW (some have turned it in already!). The H.S.S. Write up is due Friday. The H.S.S. Packet with all the shopping items will be due Monday, the 17th.

English -- In class, students took the quiz over using subjects and verbs correctly and had AR reading time.

Math - Students continued with the Holiday Shopping Spree Project by starting their "write up." Students were given a sheet that had the instructions and grading rubric. It is due Friday.. Students are to be completing the yellow "teaching percentages" sheet to complete at home. It will be due this Wednesday.

English -- In class, students journaled and practiced finding compound subjects and compound verbs. There is a quiz tomorrow over using subjects and verbs correctly.

GEOGRAPHY - Finish desert presentation, turn in desert ws and rain shadow notes packet.

Science - Wrote up the conclusions to our bacteria experiment. Made our guesses about what the reasons we get some diseases only once and some diseases we can get many times.

Math - Students decorated holiday ornaments with a mathematical "rule." Students continued with the Holiday Shopping Spree Project by starting their shopping. Students are to be completing the yellow "teaching percentages" sheet to complete at home. It will be due next Wednesday.

English -- We had book talks and said goodbye to Mrs. Szymanski :( Read 20-30 minutes and fill out strategies.

Math - TEAM SANNY WAS VICTORIOUS IN THE MILLION CALORIE FOOD DRIVE. Team Sanny evened up the score with Mrs. Grassmeyer by bringing in over 1.5 million calories. AWESOME!! Science: Wednesday's class is in lab 113. Your October science current event summary is due Wed. Oct. 3rd. Today we set up an activity to show how salt water affects cells.

Math: Students went over problems from lesson 2-4. Complete the problems listed on the orange sheet for homework. Students will take a KPS Assessment over adding and subtracting decimals on Wednesday. If your student needs to make up a previous KPS Assessment (he or she is aware of this), they need to do that by this Friday.

English - We journaled and practiced using our colorful verbs in sentences. We practiced finding and using non-action verbs in a sentence. Finish writing sentences if you need to. Read for 20 minutes tonight and use all four of our strategies. AR points are due on October 18th -- that is only 3 weeks away.

GEOGRAPHY: - Discussed new landforms and students used clay to create the various landforms.

Math: Students went over lesson 2-3 and are to complete the problems listed on their orange Chapter 2 homework sheet. Students will take a KPS Assessment over adding and subtracting decimals on Wednesday. If your student needs to make up a previous KPS Assessment (he or she is aware of this), they need to do that by this Friday.

English - We took spelling pre-test #6. We took notes over action verbs and practiced finding them in a sentence. Read for 20 minutes tonight and use all four of our strategies. AR points are due on October 18th -- that is only 3 weeks away.

GEOGRAPHY: - Students worked on reading charts dealing with multiple countries. No homework.

English - We continued with our narrative writing. Students were able to type their final copy. Tonight, complete all four of our reading strategies while reading 20-30 minutes. The week's strategies are due Monday. Final narrative copies were due today.

GEOGRAPHY: - Turned survey data into bar graphs and pie charts. Students wrote 5 questions that could be answered with graph and shared projects.

Science: Tuesday will be the last day we will work on our cell analogy project in class. Cell analogies are due Thursday before end of school. Cell parts and their functions quiz is Wed.

Math: Students created a journal and then answered a journal question. Students were also given a worksheet dealing with estimation. It is due tomorrow.

English - We focused on conclusions and continued writing our rough draft for our narrative. Tonight, complete all four of our reading strategies while reading 20-30 minutes. It will be helpful if you have your rough draft done for class tomorrow. Final copies are due Thursday.

GEOGRAPHY: - Read p. 9-10 in class, discussed political & physical maps. Discussed elevation and given elevation ws for homework.
