Math:  Students discussed the MCFD one last time.  We then handed back the week 2 vocab activities and talked  about lesson 2-11.  Complete the homework for tomorrow.

Pre-Algebra:   Students discussed the MCFD one last time.  We then handed back the week 2 vocab activities and talked  about lesson 3-2.  Complete the homework for tomorrow.

Science: Students learned the symbols for pedigrees (family trees). Students then began a rough draft of their own family tree. Students should talk to their parents and be ready to create a final draft of their family tree tomorrow in class.  Two trees will be created - one for mom's family and one for dad's family.  Each family tree is to include grandma and grandpa, all aunts and uncles, all first cousins, parents, siblings, and all children from first cousins and siblings.

English:  Today we read Chapter 10 in The Giver. We had a quiz over Ch. 6-10. Students have Pg 10 in their packet to do as homework.

Honor English:  Today we had our first Wordmasters test. Students have Pg 10 in their packets to do in their Giver Packet.

Geography:  We continued on Material World notes and discussion!  I am also still missing Comparing Economic Systems/Material World red atlas worksheet from a few students- Ask your student if they have it completed.

Welcome to the Team 7-4 Daily Blog
Friday,  November 21, 2014

Math:  Students discussed the MCFD.  We then talked more about lesson 2-10.  No homework.

Science: Students continued learning about GMOs (genetically modified organisms).  They researched examples of GMOs we eat and GMOs we do not eat.  No homework.

English:  Today we continued reading The Giver, Chapters 7-9. Students have study questions from Ch 5-8 as homework.

Honor English:  Today we had a Wordmasters study day! We have my Wordmasters test on Monday and the actual Wordmasters test on Tuesday. STUDY, STUDY, STUDY!

Geography:  We continued on Material World notes and discussion!  I am also still missing Comparing Economic Systems/Material World red atlas worksheet from a few students- Ask your student if they have it completed.

Welcome to the Team 7-4 Daily Blog
Thursday,  November 20, 2014

Math:  Students discussed the MCFD.  We then talked about lesson 2-10.  No homework.

Pre-Algebra:  Students discussed the MCFD.  We then talked about lesson 3-1 and assigned the homework from that lesson.

Science: Students learned about GMOs (genetically modified organisms).  They researched reasons for and against GMOs and then formed their own opinion.  No homework.

English:  Today we continued reading The Giver by finishing Ch. 6 and some of  7. I will be doing a packet check tomorrow during class. The students need to have all of their characters described except for two, all of the questions from Ch 1-4 need to answered, and pgs 7 and 8 need to be completed.

Honor English:  Today we continued to independently read The Giver Chapters 7-9. I will be doing a packet check tomorrow during class. Math:  Students went over the homework and then discussed the MCFD.  We then talked briefly about lesson 2-10.  No homework.

Pre-Algebra:  Students took the AMC exam.  No homework.

Science: Students watched a video about genetics.  Test over genetics tomorrow! A study guide has been handed out.

English:  Today we continued reading The Giver. Students have a study guide that they can continue filling out. There will be a quiz over Chapters 1-5 on Wednesday.

Honor English:  We started reading The Giver individually. We read Chapters 1-3. There will be a quiz on Chapters 1-5 on Wednesday. Keep studying for Wordmasters! There are two tests next week. STUDY, STUDY, STUDY!

Geography:  Students looked back over the quiz from yesterday.  We started on the introduction to Material World by doing a red atlas activity.  We went over it at the end of class.  Students who didn't get finished with this activity will have homework.  I am also still missing Comparing Economic Systems from a few students- Ask your student if they have it completed.

Math:  Students turned in the Week 2 Vocab Activities.  We then kicked off the Million Calorie Food Drive.  More than likely students had homework.  Lesson 2-9.  Kids got a new homework sheet has the problems to complete for tomorrow.

Science: Students played Kahoot! to review for Wednesday's test over genetics.  There are two SpongeBob Genetics worksheets due tomorrow.  Many students have completed both sheets in class.  Test over genetics = Wednesday, November 19th.  A study guide has been handed out.

English:  Today we turned in a text-structure worksheet and started reading The Giver. Students have a study guide that they can start filling out. There will be a quiz over Chapters 1-5 on Wednesday.

Science: Students are to complete two SpongeBob Genetics worksheets by Tuesday, November 18th.  Many students completed both sheets in class today.  No more class time will be given to complete these worksheets.  Test over genetics = Wednesday, November 19th.  A study guide has been handed out.

English:  We journaled about our own mythical monster and explored text structures found in the Loch Ness Monster article. No homework.

Honor English:  We reviewed our fill in the blank sentences and played Kahoot to review our Wordmasters words. Continue to study, study, study! Our test will be on Monday, November 24th.

Geography:  Students finished up on the Economic Comparison Activity. If they did not get it done in class it is homework- due Monday.  Quiz over Religion, Government, and Economy will be Monday the 17th.  They need to study over the weekend to be ready for the quiz on Monday 11/17.

Math:  Students took a mult fact quiz, graded the homework and then played a Kahoot game over the vocab terms.  The spelling quiz over the vocab terms is tomorrow and the activities are due Monday.

Pre-Algebra:  Students finished going over the chapter 11 formative assessment and and then played a Kahoot game over the vocab terms.  The spelling quiz over the vocab terms is tomorrow and the activities are due Monday.

Science: Students finished putting together their baby dragon based on the Punnett square outcomes and flips of a coin.  Test over genetics = Wednesday, November 19th.  A study guide has been handed out.

English:  We continued to analyze the Prince and Pauper and read about the Loch Ness Monster today. No homework!

Honor English:  We reviewed analogies and started studying for our class Wordmasters test that is on Monday, November 24th. Continue to study!

Geography:  Students compared economies for three countries.  Due on Monday.  Quiz over Religion, Government, and Economy will be Monday the 17th.  Start studying your notes!

Math:  Students went over the lesson 2-6 homework.  We then discussed lessons 2-7 and 2-8.  For homework tomorrow, lesson 2-7: 1-7 and 44.  lesson 2-8: 1-7, 41 and 42.

Pre-Algebra:  Students went over the chapter 11 formative assessment and discussed important events coming up.  No homework.

Science: Students put together their dragon based on the phenotypes that were inherited yesterday.  Students began creating their baby dragon using the rules of genetics.  Test over genetics = Wednesday, November 19th.  A study guide has been handed out.

English:  We read the Prince and the Pauper and analyzed literary elements in the story. No homework.

Honor English:  We reviewed analogies and started studying for our class Wordmasters test that is on Monday. Study, study, study!

Geography:  Students finished up the government role playing activity for fun and then we started on Economy notes.  Quiz over Religion, Government, and Economy will be Monday the 17th.  No homework.

Science: Students applied their knowledge of genetics and created a dragon.  A study guide was handed out today.  Test over genetics = Wednesday, November 19th.

English:  Students presented their Scholastic Scope group projects in class. No homework!

Science: Students learned some Punnett square vocabulary.  We then practiced using that vocabulary as we filled in some Punnett squares.  No homework.

English:  Students read a Scholastic Scope article called "Would We Be Killed?" Students worked in groups reading the article, answering questions, and working with vocabulary. No homework.

Geography:  Students continued to discuss different types of governments today.  Quiz over Religion, Government, and Economy will be Monday the 17th.  No homework.

Pre-Algebra:  Students went over lesson 11-4.  Students had time to work on the  homework.  The vocab activities are due tomorrow.  Students will take a spelling quiz over those words tomorrow also.  We postponed the assessment to Monday.

Science: Students finished filling out their genetics vocabulary chart. Students then participated in an activity to show how the XX or XY chromosomes are inherited.  No homework.

English:  Today we typed our final drafts of our Descriptive Essay. The final draft and the descriptive essay packet is due tomorrow at the end of class.

Geography:  We looked at their test from yesterday.  Students took notes over the 6 main world religions.  No homework.

Pre-Algebra:  Students went over the RTGO? on page 602.  We then covered lesson 11-4.  Students may have homework.  Ask them.

Science: Students finished comparing and contrasting mitosis and meiosis. We then began filling out a "genetics vocab chart."  No homework.

English:  Today we expanded some sentences and found better adjectives for our descriptive essay. Students need to have an adult read their essay and sign it. All of the packet should be done tomorrow. The packet and final draft is due on Thursday.

Honors English: Today we brainstormed ideas for our Descriptive Essay and started a Wordmasters sort activity. Students need to complete their Wordmasters worksheet for Monday.

Geography:  Students took a short test over Population and Traits of Culture.  No homework.

English:  Today we wrote our rough draft in class. If students didn't finish, they need to complete it for tomorrow.

Honors English: Today we brainstormed ideas for our Descriptive Essay and started a Wordmasters sort activity. Students need to complete their Wordmasters worksheet for Monday.

Geography:  Students reviewed for the test tomorrow by playing kahoot.  Students are to go home and STUDY their notes and note cards.  Completed notecards (all 15-we went over these today) are offered as extra credit the day of the test.  Students need to have these at the beginning of class tomorrow to be accepted for extra credit!!!!!

Science: Students looked at onion cells in the different stages of mitosis using a microscope.  Cell cycle test this Friday, October 31st.  A practice test has been handed out.

English:  Today we reviewed our Prepositions, Interjections, and other parts of speech today by playing Kahoot! There is no homework. I'm allowing students to turn in their preposition packet tomorrow if they don't have it done.

Geography:  Students were introduced to the culture unit.  No homework.

Science: Students peer graded each other's animation projects.  Cell cycle test Friday, October 31st.  A practice test has been handed out.

English:  Today we learned about the difference between prepositions and adverbs, and we learned about interjections. Students have pages 2 and 4 in their packet to do as homework.

Geography:  Students continued to work on a jigsaw group activity over population issues in other countries using their textbook.  Some students are still missing their Population Density worksheet activity from Friday.  It was homework if they didn't get it finished.  Ask your student about the homework.

Math: Students reviewed 12-2 and worked on 12-3.  For tomorrow complete problems 11, 12, 14, 15, 19, 21, 23, 25 from 12-3.

Pre-Algebra:  Students went over the Formative Assessment over chapter 2 and then worked on the Are You Ready from Chapter 11.

Science: Students finished creating an iMovie animation to show the cell cycle.  Students will be given 15 minutes of class time tomorrow for final edits.  Cell cycle test Friday, October 31st.  A practice test has been handed out.

English:  Today we reviewed our quiz from Friday. We started discussing prepositions and students were able to complete their homework in class. Students need to have Pg 1 from their packet completed for Tuesday.

Pre-Algebra:  Students took the Formative Assessment over chapter 2.  No homework.

Science: Students began creating an iMovie animation to show the cell cycle.  This is a 2-day project.  Monday is our final work day.  Projects due Monday by 4:00 pm.  Cell cycle test Friday, October 31st.  A practice test has been handed out.

English:  Today we went over our answers from our adjective/adverb packet. We took a short quiz and read our AR books. No homework!

Geography:  Students continued to work on the population density activity.  It is homework if they didn't get it finished in class.  Some students still need to complete the www.prb.org activity-  this assignment is due Friday- Ask your student.

Science: Students participated in a mitosis dance.  No homework.

English:  Today we learned about adverbs today. Students need to have pages 7-9 in their packet done tomorrow. We also have a quiz tomorrow. Please study!

Geography:  Students worked on a vocabulary practice and then started a population density activity.  We will continue to work on this tomorrow in class.  It is not homework.  Some students still need to complete the www.prb.org activity-  this assignment is due Friday- Ask your student.

Math: Students went over the problems 1 - 6 from yesterday.  We then reviewed some of the tougher problems and kids had time to work on the 12-1 problems from the yellow paper.  They are due tomorrow.

Pre-Algebra:  Students graded lesson 2-8 and then reviewed for the Formative Assessment which will be Friday.  Students might have some problems to work on at home.

Science: Students participated in an activity using pipe cleaners to model mitosis and the cell cycle.  No homework.

English:  Today we learned about definite and indefinite articles, nouns used as adjectives, and comparative/superlative adjectives. Students have pages 4-6 in their adjective/adverbs packet as homework.

Geography:  Students continued to analyze the world population data using www.prb.org website.  After they were finished we made note cards for the units vocabulary.  This assignment is due Friday. No homework!

Pre-Algebra:  Students went over the  review problems from the Chapter 2 Study Guide: Review and then started lesson 2-8.  Complete the homework for tomorrow.

Science: Students finished filling out a vocab chart for our Cell Cycle unit and took some additional notes.  No homework.

English:  Today we learned about adjectives being used as modifiers. Students have pages 1-3 in their adjective/adverb packet to do as homework tonight. Continue to read for AR points!

Geography:  Students analyzed the world population data using www.prb.org website.  We will work on this tomorrow in class.  No homework!

English:  Today we had a library day. Students were able to check out a new AR book and take AR tests for the new term. No homework.

Geography:  Students took notes over 1st, 2nd, 3rd world countries and completed a class activity that was called 80-15-5.  No homework!

Pre-Algebra:  Students graded the RTGO and  moved on to 2-7.  Complete the homework for tomorrow.

Science: Students reviewed for tomorrow's test over DNA.  Use your study guide and be ready for tomorrow's test.

English:  Today we presented some of our Scope group projects. Students have tomorrow to also present. No homework!

Honors English: I presented the rest of the students' Wordmaster words. No homework.

Geography:  We went over the Quiz from yesterday.  Students were offered a re-take- this needs to happen outside of Geo class- after school, before school, during 10th period, or lunch time.  All re-takes need to happen by the end of Friday!  We then started on the Population unit.  Homework: study for re-take.

Math: Students went over how subtracting works with colored chips and then practiced solving equations involving integers.  For homework in Lesson 2-5, do problems 8-19 and 21-26.

Pre-Algebra:  Students reviewed lesson 2-6.  Depending on how students did, we may review or move on to 2-7.  Ask your student.

Science: Students performed a lab to extract DNA from a strawberry.  A study guide has been handed out.  Test over DNA this Friday, October 17th.

English:  Today we worked on our Scope group project. Students are to read an assigned article from our Scope magazine and teach it to the class. They must have a visual, some sort of class activity, and an assessment (extra credit). AR goals are due TODAY at 4pm.

Geography:  Today we took a quiz over the material we have covered- Water Resources, Landforms, and Climate.  No Homework.  Next unit will be Population!

Science: Students finished an activity that focuses on how DNA is used to make protein.  A study guide has been handed out.  Test over DNA -- Friday, October 17th.

English:  Today we started on our Scope group project. Students are to read an assigned article from our Scope magazine and teach it to the class. They must have a visual, some sort of class activity, and an assessment (extra credit). AR goals are due tomorrow at 4pm.

Geography:  Today we completed a climate map in class and learned about the 5 main climates. Quiz over Landforms, Water Resources, and Climate will be Wednesday.  Homework this week is to start studying their notes- they were handed a small study guide and needed to take home their notes to study!!

Math: Students graded the multiplying integers worksheet, went over the adding/subtracting quiz from yesterday and then had another worksheet for practice that had all four operations.  For tomorrow, complete the 4 operations Quiz (practice).  Student will take a formative assessment tomorrow over lessons 2-1 - 2-4.

Pre-Algebra:  We graded the homework from 2-5 dealing with decimals and then continued 2-5 working with fractions.  Complete the homework for tomorrow.

Science: Students took notes over DNA.  No homework.

English:  Today we took a test over verbs. No homework!

Geography:  Today students handed in their Landform Textbook worksheet from yesterday- It was homework yesterday if it didn't get finished.  Then we started on Freshwater/Salt water discussion and notes.  No homework.

Math: Students went over the worksheet from yesterday and had more worksheets during class.  If your student didn't get the last worksheet done in class, finish it for tomorrow.  We will start class tomorrow with a quiz over adding and subtracting integers.

Pre-Algebra:  Students had time to work on the rest of the worksheets and then we started 2-4.  Students may have homework.

Science: Students took a test over cellular respiration.  No homework.

English:  Today we learned about helping verbs. Students had time to finish up both packets but may have homework. I also handed out an extra credit opportunity that is due on Wednesday. Verb Test is on Thursday. Study, study, study!

Geography:  Today we continued to use Google Street View to locate a few landforms from around the world.  We graded it at the end of class.  No homework.

Math: Students took a mult fact quiz, graded 2-3, watched a video over integers and worked on a worksheet dealing with adding integers.  Get it done for tomorrow.

Pre-Algebra:  Students graded lesson 2-3 homework and then worked on a worksheet to review.  Complete the problems for tomorrow.

Science: Students participated in a couple review activities.  Test over cellular respiration tomorrow.  Students have been given a study guide.

English:  Today we learned about linking verbs. The students have one page from Verb Packet 1 called Linking Verbs, and they have one page from Verb Packet 2 called Linking or Action. Both are due tomorrow. If a student didn't do well on their Pronoun Test, they were able to do a "Take-home Quest" and get half of the credit that the missed on the original Pronoun Test back on their test. This is also due on Tuesday.

Geography:  Today we used Google Street View to locate a few landforms from around the world.  No homework.

Math: Students graded the 2-2 homework and then learned how to subtract integers.  Complete the homework from lesson 2-3 for Monday.

Pre-Algebra:  Students went over the lesson 2-2 homework and then jumped into lesson 2-3.  Complete the homework for Monday.

Science: Students finished their lab report over the yeast lab.  Students were also given more time to work on their CH 4 txbk packet and study guide.  We ended class by looking at an interactive website about the structure of atoms and molecules.  Students have been given a study guide.  The next test will be Tuesday, October 7th.

English:  Today we checked our homework. We continued talking about action verbs. Students have 2 worksheets to do as homework (page 1 and 2 of the "new packet" I gave them). Continue to read your AR book. Goals are due in 12 days.

Geography:  We continued with Landform terms today-notes- and participated in a group challenger.  No homework.

Math: Students went over the AYR? and then talked about integers.  Mr. Sanny worked through the homework problems with the kids.  Get done whatever was not done in class for tomorrow.

Pre-Algebra:  We continued going over lesson 2-1, complete the homework for tomorrow.

Science: Students created a line graph to display their data from yesterday's lab.  Students have been given a study guide.  The next Tuesday will be Tuesday, October 7th.

English:  Today we started we learned about indefinite pronouns. Students have to finish pages 11 and 12 in their packet. The packet is due tomorrow. Students have their tic-tac-write to finish as homework (students should have two prompts to do). We have a pronouns quiz tomorrow. Please study!!

Geography:    Lattleship tourney continued today in class.  We started on the new Landforms unit today with notes.  No homework.
