ITBS Testing this year will be Tues, Oct 23 through Fri. Oct 26. We will be testing during core classes on those days. Please make sure you student is well rested so that they can do their best on these tests.
Science: Monday's class is in room 208. Learned about dominant and recessive genes by making marshmallow babies.
Math: Students went over math problems from the Test Best Booklet to get prepared for the ITBS testing.
English - We worked with adjectives and adverbs in a sentence. The adjective and adverb project is due today.
GEOGRAPHY: - Landform Quiz #3. Discussed the changes going on in Lake Chad.

Science: Tuesday's class is in room 119. Today we made a model of DNA.
Math: Students organized the KPS Assessments that they have taken, kids were shown their grades and notified if they had zeroes, and students took a multiplication fact quiz. No Homework.
English - We took spelling pre-test 7 and turned in journals to be graded. We took notes over verb tense. Finish the worksheet for tomorrow. Read for 20 minutes tonight and use all four of our strategies. AR points are due on October 18th -- that is only 1 1/2 weeks away.
GEOGRAPHY: - Landform Writing Assignment due Tuesday. Read, discussed and took notes on p. 22 - 25 in the textbook.

Math: Students graded the homework from lesson 2-3 and watched a video over decimals. Students took the KPS Assessment over adding and subtracting decimals. Students will take the multiplying decimals assessment tomorrow. If your student needs to make up a previous KPS Assessment (he or she is aware of this), they need to do that by this Friday.
English - We journaled and practiced using our colorful verbs in sentences. We practiced finding and using non-action verbs in a sentence. Finish the worksheet if you need to. Read for 20 minutes tonight and use all four of our strategies. AR points are due on October 18th -- that is only 2 1/2 weeks away.

Math: Students went over problems from lesson 2-4. Complete the problems listed on the orange sheet for homework. Students will take a KPS Assessment over adding and subtracting decimals on Wednesday. If your student needs to make up a previous KPS Assessment (he or she is aware of this), they need to do that by this Friday.
English - We journaled and practiced using our colorful verbs in sentences. We practiced finding and using non-action verbs in a sentence. Finish writing sentences if you need to. Read for 20 minutes tonight and use all four of our strategies. AR points are due on October 18th -- that is only 3 weeks away.

Science: Today we found out the answer to the mystery activity. Monday's class is in the media center presentation area.
Math - Students went over the homework and then introduced the Birth Announcement Project. We will be going over how to do the "math" calculations on Monday. The project will be due Friday, Aug 31 at the beginning of class.
English - We took spelling pre-test #1, took notes over common and proper nouns, and practiced finding nouns in a sentence. Over the weekend, complete one of our four reading strategies while reading 20-30 minutes.

Math - Students were introduced to multiplication fact quizzes and worked on story problems. Homework due Friday P. xxii 3,4,5 and p. xxv 1,4,7.
English - We journaled, practice making comments during reading, and played noun scattegories. Tonight, make a comment while reading 20-30 minutes.
GEOGRAPHY: Discussed cardinal and intermediate directions. Practice and worksheet due Friday.

Math - We checked out textbooks and covered them.
English - We learned how to journal and found out how many points are needed for Accelerated Reader. Have a parent sign the Accelerated Reader sheet and return it by Monday.

Math - Students discussed triangles and measuring angles with a protractor. Students went over a flow chart dealing with quadrilaterals. No homework.
English - In class students had panel discussion about chapters 10-12. We will review for Monday's unit test Thursday and Friday.
GEOGRAPHY: Students completed Mayan math problems. 20 Q's on p. 208, discussed Mexico quiz on Friday.

Math - Students graded the homework, and checked to see how many of the 20 items they could remember from Friday. For homework, do problems from 7-2: Complete problems 1 - 4, 5 - 8 (just classify as acute, right or obtuse) and 14 - 20, 23, 24 for Tuesday.
English - In class students discussed vocabulary for chapters 10-12. Finish writing sentences and read chapters 10-11 for Tuesday.

Math - Students took a quiz over the 4 Rapid Math Tricks and looked at dimensional analysis and worked on problems with a partner. No Homework.
English - Students evaluated their writing and practiced brainstorming ideas. The writing assessment is next Tuesday and Wednesday.
GEOGRAPHY: Worked on culture fair project.
