Math:   Thank you so much for your contributions for the Million Calorie Food Drive.  A Team Sanny Victory!!  We celebrated the victory by watching one of Mr. Sanny's favorite math videos, Donald Duck in Mathemagic Land.  No homework.

Geography:  Students wrapped up on the economy unit.  Next Wednesday students will have a test over Culture, Population, Government and Economy.  We organized notes today in preparation for the review on next Monday and Tuesday.

English:  English Jeopardy. No homework. Enjoy your break!

Science:  Students learned how to make a family tree (pedigree).  Over Thanksgiving break create a rough draft of at least one side of your family (mother's side or father's side) using the symbols we learned in class.

Geography:  Students finished up notes from Economy and then we started on an Economic comparison of the US, Somalia, and North Korea.  I am still missing a few Asia maps, please ask your student or check powerschool!

English:  The study guide is due TODAY at 4:00p.m.! The final test is tomorrow.

Science:  Students reviewed for tomorrow's test by playing Jeopardy.  Genetics test tomorrow.  Study! (Students were given a study guide.)

English: Read chapter 23-24 in Catching Fire. The students need to complete the study guide for homework each day. The study guide is due on Thursday at 4:00p.m.!

Math:   Students took the Formative Assessment 2B.  NO homework. 

Pre-Algebra     Students took the Formative Assessment Chapter 3.  NO homework.
 
Geography:  Students corrected assignment from yesterday.  We finished up government notes, completed a chart and students were given a flashcard link (http://www.flashcardmachine.com/2780237/7bl6) to help them study for Tuesday's (Nov. 19th) government test. Asia maps are due today. 

English: Read chapter 22-23 in Catching Fire. The students need to complete the study guide for homework each day.

Science:  Students learned how to fill out a Punnett Square.  We also talked about the terms genotype and phenotype.  No homework.

Math:   Students received a worksheet that was worked on during class.  Complete it for tomorrow.    We will have a formative assessment over Lesson 2-5 and Chapter 12 on Friday. 

Pre-Algebra     Students reviewed concepts from Chapter 3.  Ask your student if he/she has homework.  We will have a formative assessment over chapter 3 on Friday.
 
Geography:  Students worked through a textbook culture assignment due tomorrow. Students may check out a textbook. Asia maps are due on Friday. 

English: Read chapter 20-21 in Catching Fire.

Science:  Students learned about the probability of having a boy or girl. No homework.

Math:   Students took a mult fact quiz, graded lesson 12-5 and went over lesson 12-6.  Complete problems 1-4, 7-9, 11, 16, 17, 19, 21, 24, 35.    We will have a formative assessment over Lesson 2-5 and Chapter 12 on Friday. 

Pre-Algebra     We worked on lesson 3-5. We will have a formative assessment over chapter 3 on Friday.
 
Geography:  World Government notes cont.  Asia maps are due Friday-Atlas and supplies can be checked out after school!

English:  Catching Fire Unit. Today, we read chapter 19-20 in class. The study guide questions need to be filled out for homework. Vocab word:  vexed

Science:  Students filled out a genetics vocab chart and we discussed traits (ex: PTC tasting).  No homework.

Math:   Students worked with a partner and went over the quiz from last Thursday.  We then went over what was expected for work on the quiz as a whole group.  We also discussed how to solve inequalities using adding and subtracting.  Complete homework from Lesson 12-5 for tomorrow.

Pre-Algebra     We reviewed 3-4 and started 3-5.  Students might have homework.

Pre-Algebra     We discussed more from 3-3 and moved on to 3-4.  Complete the homework from 3-4 for tomorrow. 
 
Geography:  Worked on Asia maps and briefly introduced government.  Asia maps are due Friday.

English:  Catching Fire Unit. Today, we read chapter 17 in class. The study guide questions need to be filled out for homework.

Science:  Students made a Venn Diagram to compare and contrast mitosis and meiosis.  No homework.

Horizon Middle School students will be hosting a Veterans Day “Freedom Celebration” on Monday, November 11th, 2013.  Veterans and community members are invited to enjoy breakfast and coffee from 7:45-8:45A.M. At 8:45A.M. students will present a Veterans Day program. This program will feature performances by the Horizon band and chorus as well as a Veterans Day address by our guest speaker, Retired General Roma Amundson of the Army National Guard. The students and staff at H.M.S. want to make veterans a special part of this program.  Veterans, military personnel, and family members of soldiers currently on active duty will be recognized and honored at the program. Please contact Horizon Middle School if you are able to attend(698-8120).

Science:  Students modeled the cell cycle using pipe cleaners, string and paper.  Students that finished this assignment early got to use iPads to make an iMovie of the cell cycle.  Students have received a Cell Cycle Practice Test (this will serve as our study guide).  Cell Cycle Test this Thursday.

Science:  Students finished filling out their Cell Cycle Vocab Chart.  We also watched a few mitosis animations to help visualize the phases.  Students received a Cell Cycle Practice Test (this will serve as our study guide).  Test next Thursday.
